With age, women’s bodies undergo many chemical and hormonal changes. Physical factors such as dirt, pollution, and UV rays can negatively affect the health of your skin and hair. In women, menopause and menopause can also contribute to a general loss of skin smoothness and texture to the skin. sigh! All of these causes combine to cause skin texture, bumps, acne, and uneven skin tone. And our dreams of having clear skin is an important goal!

Before getting back to ways to restore our skin’s luminosity, Health Shots spoke to Dr. Monica Kapoor, celebrity aesthetician and director at FLAWLESS Beauty Clinics, to tell us why our skin feels so rugged and textured.

Dr. Kapoor list the following causes of skin texture:

  1. The buildup of dead and keratinized skin cells and irritation also affect the texture and appearance of the skin.
  2. People with a history of acne can get small bumps under their skin, acne scarring will develop atrophic scars, excess oil producers will have enlarged pores and those who pick pimples can develop papular scars.
  3. Dry or rough skin, spots, fine lines and wrinkles, enlarged open pores and acne scars. It causes skin problems.
  4. Excessive accumulation of dead skin cells on the surface of the skin, genetics, sun damage and pollution, poor skincare regimen and diet are some of the other common causes of uneven skin texture.

Here’s how to get rid of saggy skin and texture for a clear complexion:

1. Make friends with AHA and BHA

Choose skin care acids such as AHAs and BHAs. Alpha Hydroxy Acid and Beta Hydroxy Acid are two hydroxy acids commonly found in many skin care products such as cleansers, moisturizers, peels, and exfoliating products. These are very good for perfect skin texture and enhancing skin clarity.

2. Don’t delay in exfoliating

We can’t talk about clear, smooth skin without mentioning exfoliation. Whether you use a physical exfoliator, like crushed walnuts or gentle jojoba granules, or a chemical exfoliator like glycolic or lactic acid. Exfoliation will remove dead skin cells that make the skin dull, clog pores, and give a glass-like texture.

3. Combine with cleanser, moisturizer and sunscreen

One of the best ways to maintain healthy skin is to make sure you clean it well before bed. To make sure all cosmetics, sunscreen and dust are removed.

Keep your skin hydrated with a moisturizer tailored to your skin type. Dr. Kapoor suggests that sunburn or sun damage is one of the most common causes of uneven skin texture. Keep your skin protected with a broad-spectrum SPF 30 sunscreen and try to cover up as much as possible when out in the sun. Don’t forget, protected skin makes way for clear skin!

4. Peel it

Chemical peels are a very popular treatment for uneven skin conditions. Swap out your usual salon facial with an in-clinic fruit acid scrub and let a professional therapist lead to that pesky dry skin build-up. Chemical peels give you instant results and reveal fresh, glowing skin from within.

If any natural methods do not suit your skin, opt for a balanced blend of in-office treatments that can show the most visible results and supplemented with a good at-home skincare routine. All these steps will give you clear skin in no time!
