Our hearts jumped for a moment when we saw Alia Bhatt as a bride! Ranbir and Alia’s long-awaited wedding finally took place and the pictures started spreading all over the place. The pair, who were all dressed in ivory outfits, looked very much in love. Another thing that caught our eye was Alia’s fresh chrysanthemum-like look. We can’t stop crushing on her minimal makeup and glowy skin. If you’re looking for a look similar to your summer wedding, we’ve got a skincare routine to prep your oily skin before your big day.

To get an insight into what can give us flawless skin, HealthShots spoke to skincare expert Karan Bhaskar.

Here are 5 simple and effective skin care tips to keep your face looking fresh like Alia Bhatt:

1. Disinfect properly

Do not over wash your face. Although it seems normal, washing your face too frequently will dry out your skin. This stimulates the sebaceous glands, which leads to the production of more sebum. It is enough to clean your face twice a day with a gentle face wash. For the rest of the day, use a light face mist or toner to refresh your skin.

Likewise, avoid over-exfoliating. Excessive exfoliation can lead to redness, scaling, erosion, and discoloration. “In extreme cases, scarring may occur. The same applies to sonic facial brushes; don’t overuse them as they may increase acne and oil production in some people. Once a day is a lot.” A gentle chemist or toner is an excellent way to remove the dull layers of skin.”

2. Moisturizing

It may seem counter-intuitive, but keeping your skin glowing and hydrated is crucial to fighting oiliness. When you don’t moisturize your skin, the sebaceous glands are forced to produce more oil to make up for the lack of moisture. So, to keep your skin hydrated, use an oil-free moisturizer. Instead, use a moisturizer with an SPF.

3. Keep your skincare routine basic

Use a lightweight serum and sunscreen instead of your 10-step skincare routine. Cleanse your face in the morning with a face wash that contains sulfur or alpha hydroxy acid. “Alpha hydroxy acid washes are gentle chemical exfoliants that lighten skin tone. They also help prevent pigmentation caused by UV exposure during the summer. If you have oily or acne-prone skin, a sulfur face wash is recommended,” says Bhaskar. .

Apply an antioxidant-rich serum next, followed by a zinc oxide sunscreen. The antioxidant-rich serum protects skin cells from UV, infrared, visible light, heat, and even environmental factors that can cause the production of harmful free radicals.
Meanwhile, a sunscreen containing zinc oxide is recommended as it provides broad spectrum sun protection and is naturally anti-inflammatory. Furthermore, Bhaskar suggests replacing the night cream with a moisturizing serum. Pamper your skin with summer masks and scrubs.

Sulfur masks are excellent for reducing sebum production. On the other hand, charcoal masks can effectively remove impurities from the skin. To control oil, use salicylic acid peels if you have acne-prone skin.

4. Wipe off any excess oil

The blotting papers can quickly absorb the excess oil from the skin. It is also inexpensive and small enough to fit in a handbag. Blotting paper is basically your best friend when it comes to summer skin care. Ordinary paper towels can also be used.

5. Wedding makeup should be sweat-proof

The best makeup for oily-skinned brides is sweat-resistant makeup. The idea is to use waterproof products, such as eyeliner, mascara, or long-wearing makeup.

Alia Bhatt uses cosmetics that allow the skin to breathe. This reduces the possibility of sweat, oil and dirt trapping. Choose lightweight raw materials. Likewise, replace your usual foundation with an oil-free to medium coverage alternative,” says Bhaskar.

6. Avoid products with a heavy emollient base

Avoid using moisturizers during the summer as they are more likely to cause increased oil production and breakouts. Also, don’t try too many skin care products right before the wedding. Take one step at a time when it comes to taking care of oily skin. Try to stick to your regular skincare regimen rather than trying new products and avoiding them to avoid irritation or a reaction.

These steps will help you achieve the peachy glow of Alia Bhatt without looking ‘fried’! Start this skincare routine about two months before your wedding. Don’t forget to eat a balanced diet and invest your time in exercising at least 3 times a week.
