It’s true: I let myself loose for a while during the wintertime. Despite my best efforts at moisturizing My face and hands have become dry. I’m not sure when was when the last time I got manicured my hands. It’s a bit daunting to go outside in the frigid winter weather to get a salon appointment after work when I could instead rush back home in my sweatpants with a Netflix account…pass.
When it is about my lips, I don’t let my lips go unnoticed. I don’t like cracked, dry lips. This is why I’m sharing the most effective tips to have lovely healthy, kissable and healthy lips at the right time to celebrate Valentine’s Day!
Exfoliate
Get rid of dead, dry skin flakes gently by brushing your lips using a damp brush, soft washcloth or soft one. I usually do this every week, typically at the beginning of a weekend, even if I’m not taking a walk as it can make my lips somewhat fragile.
Hydrate
Like other parts of your facial skin, your lips can dry up and get chapped quickly since they don’t have oil glands. Consume plenty of water to avoid your lips drying out and be careful not to lick the lips (it took me several years to get rid of the habit!) This also sucks up moisture.
Make sure to protect and moisturize
The lips are subject to a lot of sunlight exposure, particularly the lower lip. This means that they’re the most frequent site to develop skin cancers. This is why it’s SUPER crucial that your daily lipstick contains at least an SPF 15 sunscreen. Yes, you have to take care of your lips and other parts of your skin regardless of whether you’re wearing a face mask! Then, at night, I change to moisturizing products to reduce the dryness that occurs during the night.
Apply frequently
Make sure to apply sunscreen-protective lip products every two hours, preferably when you eat or drink. It’s helpful to store my lip balm with SPF in different places. It is usually on my desk and in my purse on my nightstand, as well as in my bathroom. This way I always remember to apply it after brushing my teeth. One benefit of this approach is that now you can are able to play around with various brands and products. Make sure to apply sunscreen-protective lip creams at least every 2 hours.
When it comes to products, make sure that you’re using only the best ones. Make sure you choose lips products that are endorsed by the Skin Cancer Foundation’s Seal Of Recommendation. The Seal is awarded only for sun-protective products that comply with the guidelines set by Our Photobiology Committee (a group of highly skilled experts who study the way that sun affects the skin) Therefore, you’ll know when you purchase a product that comes with the Seal that your lips will be smooth and safe from sun damage.
